The Lone Ranger and his friend, Tonto, had made camp for the night in the forest near the banks of the Missouri. Tonto was cooking the evening meal while the masked man was studying a map, and discussing whose properties they could stop by to ask if they had seen anything of the outlaw, Rio, or his men. Tonto's keen hearing picked up the sound of someone approaching camp. The two men headed out of camp to the shadows, to watch for who approached, and the sound of running footsteps stopped. It was a woman! Her dress was torn, and she carried a shotgun... Her husband had been killed by outlaws, and she was running scared.
