The Mayor of Casterbridge is set in Wessex, England and concerns rain and weather with strong men in conflict and with women fully dependant. It is the story of Michael Henchard a man of character, strong and yet weak, turbulent yet calm, hard and yet sentimental. He lived by his deeds and died by them and was judge for them.
