The Lone ranger and Tonto were in the saddle before dawn riding through the broken, hilly country in the vicinity of Many Springs. Their course led through a valley with hills towering on both sides. The hill on the right was famous for its many caves, and in the light of the moon, it loomed as a dark smudge against the sky.
