John Morgan and his wife Esther sell their Lucky Mine Company and move to a mansion in a quiet town in New England where John can write a book on copper mining. The realtor told them that this house was different, that there was always a ghost here but always a different ghost that the folks who lived there seemed to bring with them. There was something about this house that seemed to make ghosts feel welcome. John and Ester were not superstitious and Ester really wanted to live in the house far away from Colorado on the beautiful Maine coast. However John receives a call from his attorney that there had been problems after the sale of the company and the purchasers were not happy with John. At the same time Helen experiences a smell of sulphur and momentarily sees a shadowy figure at the front door. Several times the stranger with a black peak cap is seen at the house and now John is acting differently...
