Abner is at the Jot 'Em Down store talking to Cedric. A note with the box they found in the chest in Lum's attic says that the box must not be opened except in front of the heirs of the deceased Mr. Hempstead. Lum got in touch with the police to see if they could locate any of his kinship but to no avail. Cedric and Abner are wondering what might be in the little box.
