Our story today begins in the ranch house of Eric Badger, the most powerful cattle man in all that fertile region surrounding the town of Ashland. He and his foreman, Scotty Campbell, are talking with two strangers, going by the names Dirk Hawkins and Slim Dykeman, who want Eric to rally a band of men together to drive out the homesteaders who have recently arrived in the town.
