One of the richest but most lawless regions in Wyoming territory lay ahead of the Lone Ranger and Tonto as they rode along the Powder River trail. There was a signpost ahead, near to the fork in the trail, and something was nailed to the post - a notice - offering a reward of $3000 for information that lead to the conviction of the murderer of Sheriff Lee. It was signed by Mrs Richard Lee, Sheriff, a woman holding office, and the Lone Ranger wanted to help her to succeed in her role.
