The Lone Ranger and Tonto had seen a distant column of smoke rising from beyond a hill. Riding in that direction, they came upon the smoldering remains of a number of heavy wagons. Indians had struck hard, killed the guards and drivers, and suddenly, the Lone Ranger and Tonto heard the sound of more war crys! Over a hundred Indians headed their way. The only option for them was to run! After Silver and Scout made amazing pace to escape, the Lone Ranger and Tonto stopped to gather their thoughts. The dead men at the wagons were soldiers, and the wagons had likely had the food and supplies for the outpost nearby. Without those supplies, the men would starve. It was up to the masked man to save the day!
