Pompeii stands at a crossroads in time, oblivious to its future. In four days it will have disappeared under thirty feet of volcanic ash. Until an hour ago, it was a favorite Italian vacation town for Romans, Greeks and Egyptians, a happy town filled with warm, fun-loving people. Then suddenly, in the early hours of this morning, it was shaken by an earthquake, about 4 on today's richter scale. Marcus-Rufus a young Athenian architect whose home is in Pompeii, tells us his tale.
