King Louis XI, one of the shrewdest and treacherous men of his time was also a victim of superstition. When his favourite astrologer, predicted the death of an old Madame of the court, Louis secretly smiled, because the Madame possessed a famous diamond that he had long desired. When at last, the predicted day arrives, the astrologer confides to his apprentice Rene, that the diamond of the Madame will be his. Is it written in the stars?
