The rodeo was in full swing just outside the little town of Split Rock. Dust swirled high, glinting in the sun, cowhands and town folk whooped and cheered as the bulldogging contest neared its finish. A young, Mexican woman stood beside her husband as he coiled the rope once more and made sure it was ready for use.
