The building of the first railroad in the wester United States was a tremendous undertaking. In addition to the engineering problems, the men in charge of construction were faced with the threat of hostile Indians and outlaws. Their great task might never have been completed, were it not for the help they received from the masked rider of the plains. Today's story opens near the Perry ranch at Boiling Rock.
