One problem of the vast defense program undertaken by our government, is concerned with the new installation, factories and plants, built in inaccessible places, springing up as it were out of the wilderness. The army of workers for these new defense projects must have some place to live, and it is this theme which concerned Senator Dean Edwards on the floor of the senate chamber yesterday, and which today finds him in conference with a representative of the defense department.
