Our story had its beginning in New York, in one of the most fashionable old mansions on Park Avenue. Cantankerous old Henry Armbruster is seventy three, has worked all his life and built a tremendous fortune through his own courage and skill, but the doctor has said that if he doesn't take it easy now, he'll be dead within three months. And now Henry has gone 'missing', after withdrawing one million dollars from the bank, and the disappearance of one of the wealthiest financiers in the east has created a sensation, with a search state wide continuing to spread. Newspapers ran front page stories, with rewards offered for information and his safe return. The days ran into weeks, until nearly two months later, when Henry rolled into the little town of Roaring Wells and met Dan Reid after alighting from the stage.
