Tolbooth Prison in Edinburgh ironically known as The Heart Of Midlothian was torn down in the year 1815 but it lives on darkly in the pages of the Walter Scott novel. It will live a long time for the book named after it has become one of the classics of English literature, strong in story and rich in the flavor of Scottian. It has been adjudge the best of Scott’s Waverley novels noted for having fewer characters and incidents than most of his pleasantly winding romances.
