It was in the autumn of 1899 when Dr Watson decided that both as a doctor and friend Sherlock Holmes was in desperate need of a holiday. It had been an unusually busy year and Holmes was suffering from complete exhaustion. So towards the end of October that year they found them selves in the charming city of Cazarlack capital of the small Balkan kingdom of Grosnia. A few nights later they experienced the singing of a young Hungarian opera star Miss Lily Rainer who was touring Europe and at their table sat her fiancé Prince Stefano who was very much in love with her.
