His name is Tomcheq. Her name is Marina. They live in a great mountainous forest that covers much of central Europe. Around them swirl distant echoes of the greatest war in history and yet their lives seem untouched. Almost every night they hear the drone of Liberators, Lancasters and B17s, but their small town is hardly ever hit and they only ever hear rumours of people being ruthlessly exterminated. Marina keeps reminding Tomcheq it’s none of their affair, and that they must remain impartial. Until tonight, when the Nazis knock on their door on the hunt for two escaped Jews, and they need Tomcheq to guide them through the forest. Tomcheq decides he will not lead the Nazis to the two Jews, an old man and his granddaughter, and that he will save them by hiding them deep in the woods in a secret cave. But what will be the consequences of his deceit of the Nazis...
