Jim is in South America now, together with his fellow adventurers. The four of them are driving across the barren, waterless pampas, on route to the estate of Ramon's father far to the south. Because they fear that old Senor O'Reilly may be in serious danger, they have been moving along as rapidly as possible, but now as they race through a narrow, rocky gorge, they are over taken by a powerful limousine, determined to force them off the road.
