Captain Lee Quince has to pick up two prisoners from Fort Leventhorpe. One named Stringer is a prisoner who was told he could get out of jail if he joined the army. The other, Mitford is known as a galvanized soldier meaning like iron he changed color – he was captured in grey and sent west in blue. Most of Captain Lee Quince’s men fought in the Union army and though that war was long over for some men like Mitford it was not.
