Joe Warren's message to the padre had been an urgent one. Joe was his friend, and so when the Lone Ranger appeared at the old mission, the padre had bared him to ride at once to Warren's ranch, deep in the cattle country. The Lone Ranger and Tonto rode without rest for a full day and night, and arrived at the sprawling ranch house early the next morning. They were about to dismount when a leathery faced tough old man rushed out pointing a rifle menacingly!
