When Chris Saunders tossed a brick through the window of Norton’s drugstore in Bloomfield Mr Al Graham who was new in Bloomfield talked to Saunders and his gang and persuaded them to put their “throwing” talent to better use in a baseball team. Al Graham hopes to channel the gang’s energy in to baseball to curb their misbehaviour and juvenile delinquency while at the same time securing himself a job as an athletic instructor at Bloomfield’s high school.
