It is six o’clock on a November evening in London in the year 1914. The fire in Keith Darrant’s study flicks little dapples of light across the turkey red carpet. Keith Darrent K.C. is dozing but even in sleep his face is strong, cold, clear-cut. His brother Larry arrives and he looks dreadful. Keith Darrent suspects he wants money but in distress Larry tells his brother that last night he had killed a man.
