Dan Reid, the fourteen-year-old nephew of the Lone Ranger, was riding in the stagecoach after visiting with friends some distance away. The stage was a few miles out of their destination before the only other passenger - a stout, jolly-looking, middle-aged man, who had slept most of the way in spite of the rough riding - finally woke. He was visiting his sister for a week or two, and was traveling from Dallas. The two were getting acquainted when sudden gunfire rang out, and a gang of outlaws raced towards the stage. It was a hold-up!
