Steve Martin is a fresh journalist out of Iowa. He's been assigned to be the personal writer for Babe Ruth.

It's his first day at work. He walks into the changing room to find Babe Ruth in a fight, but it goes from bad to worse. When the fight is over and he tells Babe that he's been appointed to be his personal writer he finds out that Babe has already told the news syndicate that he's chosen a different journalist.

Steve Martin isn't too pleased. As he sits pondering the situation he is approached by someone who gives him a real scoop to go to the papers with. His instincts tell him he shouldn't get involved, but it is very tempting.
