Lum and Abner have closed the store for the day to prepare for the arrival of Doc Withers when a man comes in to the store to make a phone call. All the man wants to do is make one phone call then he'll be on his way. Lum and Abner are hurrying him up as they are in a rush to get to the banquet for Doc Withers. The man is taking so long they leave him the key and tell him to lock up when he's finished.
