It was 9.15 on Saturday and Philip Marlowe was planning on wasting the day in the comfort of his home with a good book when the phone rang. It was Mrs Phoebe Coldwell she needed him to find a missing person, her chauffer who wasn’t strictly her chauffer he was more like a son to her. It was her grandmotherly nature and the lure of dollars that made Marlowe give up his Saturday to help her.
