The Lone Ranger rode his horse Silver down the trail toward Well city, a typical ranchers community in the pioneer days. Ben Bush is the wealthiest man in the town; he owns the bank, controlled vast sections of land in the territory and receives dividends from most of the other commercial enterprises but for all his wealth and power he was thoroughly disliked. He ruled Wells city and the surrounding district with an iron hand and it was suspected but never proved that he had built his position upon a disregard of honesty and justice.
