Yesterday, Abner's dog, Old Blue, returned home pretty bedraggled and with his paws covered with red clay. Dick Huddleston and Grandpappy Spears, because of the red clay and the hills surrounding Pine Ridge, took this as a clue that Lum and Abner were lost somewhere in the mountains, and immediately organized two search parties.
