In 1875 a newly formed branch of police was assigned to the north western Canada, the vast unexplored country composed of thousands of miles of wasteland, with instructions to maintain law and order. Ever since on horseback, on snow shows and with dogs and sled they have controlled this barren kingdom , their distinctive style of coat being recognised as a symbol of law and justice. That is when and where the famous Mountie Police made its reputation.
