Hugh Fielding has arrived at his hotel, and whilst checking in, the receptionist informs him that an Englishman has been waiting for several hours, to speak with him. However, the gentleman has gone when they go to locate him. There is, however, a letter waiting for Hugh which identifies the man - and Hugh's not sure if it's good news or not that he's been there. As it turns out, it's a matter of life or death!
