The Lone Ranger and Tonto rode the trail toward Clayton. It was dusk and a storm of great intensity had come up. Seeing a clump of cottonwoods to one side of the trail, they prepared to pitch camp. They suddenly hear a shot from on the trail, and race to find out what has happened. A man has been shot, but as he's still breathing they decide to take the wounded man to their camp. As he awoke the following day, he tells them of the troubles he is in with Les Benton, who owns half of the Clayton mine with him. And it's over a woman...
