Lum got pretty fed up on the way Abner misunderstands everything and Abner to protect himself is forced to take refuge in the library part of the store over which Lum had put up a sign saying no scuffling. Lum finally called a truce and went to the Country Seat to get some library cards, he's just gotten back and Abner's anxious to see what he's got.

Cedric can't get library card because he doesn't own any property so Lum and Abner sell him a strip of land outside their shop. But he still can't get a libary card because he doesn't have a telephone, that's according to the rules of the library. Lum has to revise the rules!
