Michael Shayne has been called to the apartment of William Kinsella, who wants to hire him to protect him - but he doesn't know from what or who. He received a letter in the mail today, with four names at the top, and a note which reads "Those who have sinned will be punished. It may come swiftly, or slowly, or by an unknown hand, but punishment is inevitable, and the punishment is death."
