This is a true case taken from the files of the criminal courts of New York only the names are fictitious. When Harold Thomas (not his real name) is accused of holding up at gunpoint and robbing a work colleague of $175 he cannot afford a lawyer to defend himself and having previous convictions he is sure to be imprisoned. However, Harold Thomas is adamant that he is innocent and is assigned John Harvey, a lawyer with the legal aid society to represent him.
