Two United States Army soldiers have been murdered whilst carrying the payroll. Major Reynolds wants to know what Matt Dillon plans on doing about the crime. When Dillon says he can’t and won’t do anything the Major threatens to impose Marshall law. Nobody wants the army running Dodge and it isn’t long before Dillon runs into trouble with residents of the town, but things seem to improve when a beautiful young woman rolls-up in Dodge.
