When Lieutenant Jack Barbour suddenly dropped in on his family the night before last and said he was headed for active duty in the Pacific, and that he had just 48 hours leave, his family closed in about him like the arms of a mother around a small child. The desire to do something for him, to be something to him, to help sustain him in preparation for this new adventure was overwhelming.
