May Owen owner of a little bookstore has gone to see Simon Templer upset and thinking that she must be going crazy. She cannot understand why in the last month a book entitled The Birds and Bees of East Orient has been regularly in demand. Templar suggests that the either the author has a lot of friends or that the book is quite simply popular but Miss Owen explains that it is always the same three people who borrow the book. When Simon goes with her to her book store they find a man murdered on her floor and the book missing…
