"The day the bottom fell out of my world, I fell too - a long, long way - and I thought I'd never stand on my feet again. But I did, and that's my story." It happened one afternoon in January, when Miss Anne Jordan was working as a commercial artist, drawing senseless pictures of clothes, perfumes and other insignificant items. She received the telegram everyone dreads - her lover, David, has been reported as missing in action. Completely overcome with sorrow, her friend Helen recommends that she do some war work instead, to keep her busy - and so begins Anne Jordans' work drawing portraits of wounded soldiers.
