Abner is now firmly convinced that Lum is planning to do away with him in order  to collect the partnership insurance money. But Lum has talked himself in to believing that any similar suspicions he had towards Abner were merely the results of an overworked imagination. However he quickly changed his mind again when he accidently learned from Cedric that Abner had borrowed a pistol from Grand Pappy Spiers. With this knowledge Lum hastily cancelled the arrangements he had made to work late that night. Let's see what happens next...
