This case began at the front door of the old Cartwright mansion. It was a gloomy dark looking place with a lot of trees around it and the rain that night didn't help it's appearance any. Detective Brad Runyon doesn't usually make calls at night but the Cartwrights had a lot of dough and the old lady had been insistent. While he is waiting to see her, the butler warns him about interfering in other peoples affairs and her daughter  tells him her mother is sick and imagines things, then her son warns him to mind his own business. It looks like no one wants the old lady to talk to Runyon.
