Added: Sep 17 2016
Charles I of England was born in Dunfermline on 19th November 1600. He was a sickly child, unable to speak until his fifth year. Later, he outgrew his defects and became skilled in tilting under marksmanship, as well as an accomplished scholar, and a diligent student of theology. He was created Duke of Albany at his baptism, Duke of York in 1605, and Prince of Wales in 1616, four years after the death of his brother, King Henry, who left him heir to the crown of three kingdoms.
