World at War

World at War

On November 11th we will honor the brave men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. This year is especially poignant, as it marks the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War.

The date also coincides with Armistice Day and Remembrance Day in other parts of the world.

Poppies have long been used as a symbol to remember those killed in conflict, and 'Blood Swept Lands And Seas Of Red' is an outstanding memorial in London, England, where volunteers have planted 888,246 ceramic poppies in the lawn around the Tower of London, one for each British and colonial fatality in the First World War. It is truly stunning.

Joy and I certainly can't compete with a memorial of that magnitude, but what we have done, is create a new radio station for RUSC, called World at War.

You can listen to the radio station by clicking on the link below, or by clicking on the RUSC Radio menu option to the left.

Listen here: World at War Radio Station

I hope that you will enjoy the selection of old time radio shows that Joy and I have added to the station. If there's a particular show that has touched your heart in the past and you feel should be included, please do let me know by posting a comment below, and I'll make sure that it's added.

Whilst you listen, do spare a thought not only for the men and woman who have served in the conflicts of the past century, but also to the men and woman who are in our armed forces today. Remember them with pride and gratitude.

Happy listening my friends,

Ned Norris
