Time For A Vacation?
With this dreadful virus, I think we've all perhaps been a lot less keen to travel this year. But that doesn't mean you can't let your imagination drift off into another land...
Rather than letting the monotony of day to day life right now get you down, why not listen to a whole heap of old time radio shows on RUSC, where you can close your eyes and imagine you're right there too.
At the very least, it will keep you busy until vacation time finally rolls around again!
Joy and I were tempted to head out on a road trip, but this darned virus has been really making things tough, so we decided to hunker down and listen to the radio series, Abroad With The Lockharts first.
The series featured Mr & Mrs Lockhart planning, and embarking upon, their summer vacation to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary. Will Lockhart, the hardworking Chicago businessman, wants nothing more than to go on a nice, relaxing fishing trip. But Mrs Lockhart is tired of fishing trips, and feels that they are long overdue a trip to Europe.
Needless to say, Mr Lockhart underestimated just how much his wife wants that cruise to Europe, and with her ambush planned well, he doesn't stand a chance!
Each episode of Abroad With The Lockharts is an absolute joy to listen to, both for their hilarious husband-wife rapport, and the experiences they have on the cruise and later in the UK and Europe.
There are lots more radio shows with the word 'vacation' in the title or description. You can check this out yourself using the powerful search function on RUSC. Simply type vacation into the search box at the top left of the RUSC home page, hit 'Enter' and you'll be whizzed off to a page displaying almost 300 search results. That should keep us all busy!
There's classic comedy from the Great Gildersleeve, the Life of Riley, Jack Benny, and the Bickersons, through to thrills from the Mysterious Traveler, Yours Truly Johnny Dollar, Arch Oboler, and The Shadow - and LOTS of drama in between!
