Well, I hope that you have enjoyed listening to Sky King on RUSC, but alas we have come to the last episode in existence. However, we did receive this e-mail from John Froemke, a long-standing member of RUSC, directing us to a great site where you can visit the real King Ranch, find out about the birthplace of American ranching, and take a virtual ranch tour.

"As a kid, I watched Sky King on television.  Then as a business person I worked with a hospital in Kingsville, TX, home of the King Ranch that Sky King was based on" says John. 

He continues "What an adventure.  There was a serious political 'deal' that was done at one time in the 1980's while I was there that involved King Ranch and the Kennedy Ranch which, is owned by a Roman Catholic group of Nuns.  These two ranches were the size of counties, 90% of Kleberg County being the King Ranch and the financial budget of the county. 

Yes, even today, the King Ranch is so large that the planes used on the ranch do not need pilots with licenses because they can fly the ranch and never leave ranch air space.

I don't know what the outside interests are of the King Ranch.  But the private jets that bring people into Corpus Christi airport for the ranch auctions of live stock came from around the world."
