Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving

George Washington proclaimed the first nationwide thanksgiving celebration in America on November 26th, 1789, 'as a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favours of Almighty God'.

Joy and I have many reasons to be thankful, and our national holiday is a wonderful time for us to remember this and rejoice with our family who we don't get to see as often as we'd like.

Maybe I'm showing my age, but with Thanksgiving just a few days away, I have begun to feel a little like the retail world, and the Black Friday sales in particular, are devouring our Thanksgiving holiday. How about you?

Instead of the crazy sales creeping a day or two either side (or even the whole week in some cases!) I'd prefer if Thanksgiving would stretch another day instead, to make our family visits even more special!

Will you be hitting the sales this year? It's more likely that Joy and I will be spending our time on the cuddle seat, listening to old time radio shows, indulging in an aperitif, and eating lots of traditional food - and so with that in mind, we have put together a list of classic old time radio shows for you to indulge in on your own day off, before, during or after you've had your fill of turkey...

We've managed to dig out some real classics, and you can pick and choose which shows you'd like to add to your playlist, by clicking here, or alternatively, the RUSC Thanksgiving Day radio station is also live, which will play a selection of holiday classics at random.

You can listen to the radio station by clicking on the link below, or by clicking on the RUSC Radio menu option over to the left.

Whether you're enjoying spending time with family, helping the less fortunate, watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade or you're simply getting away from it all, on behalf of myself and my wonderful wife Joy, I'd like to wish you and your family, a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday.

Thank you again for your friendship and support of RUSC throughout the year.

Happy listening my friends,

Ned Norris
