Spending Thanksgiving with Friends

Spending Thanksgiving with Friends

It's been a strange old year, and although we won't be together as a family this Thanksgiving, we are grateful that we're safe and healthy.

As I'm sure is the same with many of you, all of the isolation this year has led to Joy and I listening to many more old time radio shows to help us escape from the daily doom and gloom newsflashes on the television and radio.

This past week has been extra special because I got to listen to lots of Thanksgiving shows, which always leaves me with a warm feeling. One in particular gave me a pleasant surprise too!

I began listening to the Lum and Abner show, Thanksgiving in Pine Ridge, and discovered that it wasn't a 'normal' 15 minute episode, but was in fact a whole hour long!

Not only that, but it's like an actual Thanksgiving day, right there with Lum and Abner and friends, and includes some of the old fellows favorite songs too. If like us, you aren't able to rejoice with your family for Thanksgiving this year, I'd really recommend you spend the day with Lum and Abner instead.

We've also dug out some real classic old shows for you, which you'll find on a special Thanksgiving Day page here, or alternatively, the RUSC Thanksgiving Day radio station is also live, which will play a selection of holiday classics at random.

And last but not least, check out the Thanksgiving Day quiz which will hopefully keep you busy too!

Whether you're lucky enough to be spending time with family, or you're reinventing traditions this year using video calls to spend 'virtual' time together, myself and my wonderful wife Joy, would like to wish you and your family, a very Happy Thanksgiving holiday.

Thank you again for your friendship and support of RUSC throughout the year.
