So many people have asked for this …
Over the years there is one feature that I must have been asked for a million times. Okay, I'm exaggerating. Maybe it has just been a few hundred times, but it seems like a million times.
Here's a message I received only the other day from Johnny in Texas.
Hi Ned,
I've been a member of RUSC pretty much since
the early days. Over the years I've downloaded
so many shows I forget what I've downloaded.
I really wish there was a way to keep track of
this on the site. That would be like Christmas
come early Ned.
Johnny
I have some great news for you Johnny, and for everyone else who has suggested this over the years. It's actually something I've been working on for the last year, but I didn't want to announce it until it was totally ready for primetime.
Some of the more observant amongst you might, over the last few days, have noticed a little red/green icon to the bottom right of each show's description when you are in Detailed View. This icon tells you whether you have downloaded a show or not.
The icon will change automatically whenever you download or listen to a show. It does it automatically so you don't have to remember to do it each time. It might not change-over immediately, but the next time you refresh that page you'll see it will have changed.
If you add a show to the basket it won't be marked as downloaded/listened to until you actually trigger the download or listen to the show. I figured it was best doing it this way just in case you added a whole heap of shows and then forgot to download them or listen to them.
I've been storing a record of all the shows downloaded and listened to over the last year so if you check through the various series you've been enjoying you should see quite a few of them already marked as Downloaded/Listened to.
Anything you downloaded or listened to over a year ago won't be marked as downloaded/listened to, but you can easily solve that by clicking on the icon manually, and it will switch over and mark that show in the system for you.
One thing I was wondering was whether anyone would find it useful to be able to access a list of all the shows you've downloaded or listened to. If anyone is interested in that I can definitely see about adding that. If you are, make sure to post a comment below to let me know.
I do hope you like this new feature and find it enhances your enjoyment of the site.
A massive thank you to everyone who has messaged me over the years about this. It was your continued encouragement that motivated me to get it done so thanks for that.
Happy listening my friends,
