Remembering Wild Bill And The Simpler Days Gone By

Remembering Wild Bill And The Simpler Days Gone By

I can't begin to tell you what happy childhood memories are being conjured up for me by getting to hear these wonderful shows again. I can even remember how good Sugar Pops used to taste and I haven't eaten them in decades!

Like most girls when I was young I had quite a crush on Wild Bill played by handsome Guy Madison (pictured opposite). Gene Autry, Roy Rodgers, even Hopalong Cassidy left me kinda cold, though I do remember how "Hoppy Fever" swept Chillicothe, Ohio back in the 1950s when William Boyd came to town. But Wild Bill he was so dreamy!

Thank you for bringing these programs back from Oblivion and enabling us all to remember happier and simpler times.

Actually, the times sucked we had the Cold War and that Police Action in Korea and the imminent threat of thermonuclear holocaust not to mention Joe McCarthy, not quite as funny as Charlie, but us kids didn't register much of that. We knew Wild Bill and Ramar of the Jungle and the Donna Reed Show and Space Patrol and the last fading days of radio and things seemed pretty good and that's the part I remember when I hear these shows.
