Recommendation - The Whistler

Recommendation - The Whistler

Wow, eighty years ago today on the 16th May 1942, The Whistler first premiered on radio.

The Whistler is a series that consistently receives five stars from anyone who listens to it. It was rated by independent research the most popular West Coast program in radio history and it's not hard to see why.

Each show begins with the opening lines, "I am the Whistler, and I know many things, for I walk by night. I know many strange tales, many secrets hidden in the hearts of men and women who have stepped into the shadows. Yes, I know the nameless terrors of which they dare not speak…"

You can listen to over five hundred episodes of The Whistler on RUSC but the one we are featuring today is Alias Mr Alden, broadcast on October 21st, 1951 recommended by friend of RUSC, Ava who says this about it:

"A good noir Whistler story of deception and intrigue with an old busybody who mucks things up, and a sad sack of a young woman, who seems harmless - but is she really as innocent as she appears?"

Eighty years old and still as exciting today. Once you've listened to Alias Mr Alden I can guarantee you will be hooked on The Whistler series. Be sure to leave your comments under any of the shows that make an impact on you.

Happy listening my friends,

Ned Norris
