Recommendation - The Six Shooter

Recommendation - The Six Shooter

As today would have been James Stewarts birthday, born 20th May, 1908 there was no alternative but to feature The Six Shooter.

That, as well as him being Joy's favorite actor! In fact the quote from Kara, friend of RUSC, could have been written by Joy herself. Kara says:

"There's something magical about James Stewart's voice that just makes me feel all warm and cozy. There's nothing better than curling up in bed with a couple of these shows lined up. I rarely get to the end as his lovely voice has usually put me to sleep long before then, which just means I get to enjoy the same episode another night."

The show we are featuring today is called Battle At Tower Rock, but it's not a battle you'd expect in a western series, no it's a battle between sisters Thelma and Bessie feuding over who has entered the best preserve in the county fair. Britt Ponset (James Stewart pictured above) has to be the judge, and he doesn't want Bessie or Thelma turning on him!

There are plenty of folk with their own reasons on who should win and all giving their advice to Britt but at the end of the day the decision is down to Brit! It's a lovely simple and humorous story recommended by friend of RUSC, Meiz99, who says this about it...

"The Six Shooter could be called a "thinking man's western." No episode demonstrates this as well as this one. The drama may not be life or death but it's realistic characters behaving in real ways. Sometimes the best drama is real life and nothing can be more important than a simple jar of jelly."

I am so glad to be alerted to this series again. It's such a cosy wholesome listen. There are forty episodes extant and all are available to listen to on RUSC.

Be sure to post your comments on any of the shows you listen to. It makes our day to know what you think.

Happy listening my friends,

Ned Norris
